>After awarding Efren Penaflorida (Champion of the Children -Educator) as the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year of the Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) who hails from the Philippines and helps the children in Cavite through his push-cart education . The leading Cable News Network (CNN) is now opening its doors for the new set of nominees for the 2010 CNN Hero of the Year who created a big impact to the society. While the 2008 CNN Hero of the Year winner is Liz McCartney, a community crusader who helps Hurricane Katrina survivors in St. Bernard Parish a community outside the New Orleans, USA.
There are categories where nominees can be bases:
- Championing Children – Someone who commits to the welfare of young people
- Community Crusader – Person who creates solutions to a local problem or social issue
- Defending the Planet –Gives Innovative efforts to preserve and protect the environment
- Medical Marvel – Shows dedication to the enhancement of human health
- Protecting the Powerless – Who advance the cause of human or equal rights
- Young Wonder – With outstanding achievement by a person 25 or under
For nomination visit www.cnn.com/heroes, deadline of submission is until August 2, 2010 12:01AM (Pacific Standard Time). Ten finalists will receive $25,000 each and the 2010 CNN Hero of the Year (winner) will receive $100,000.00.
