>Starting January 27, tears will fall and hearts will be touched as Warner Bros brings another inspirational movie based from a true to life story of Michael Oher, an offensive lineman of the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League which is also written in the book of Michael Lewis entitled The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, published last 2006. The film is entitled The Blind Side which gives Sandra Bullock the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for the Motion Picture Drama, the movie is directed and written by John Lee Hancock, and starred by Sandra Bullock (Leigh Anne Tuohy), Quinton Aaron (Michael “Big Mike” Oher), Tim McGraw (Sean Tuohy), Lily Collins (Collins Tuohy) Jae Head (Sean “S.J.” Tuohy, Jr.) and Kathy Bates (Miss Sue).
In search for a real family, Big Mike has been foster care with different families until he was enrolled in the Wingate Christian School where he met SJ, the youngest son of Leigh Anne. On the way home from the pre-thanksgiving event in Wingate the Tuohy bumped with Big Mike on his way to the school gym where he spends his night after his foster family left him. Being a mother Leigh Anne asks Big Mike to go home with them and spend Thanksgiving with the Tuohys. Leigh Anne discovers the ability of Big Mike and his aspirations in life and she officially adopts him to the family. Miss Sue, Michael struggles to have good grades while joining the Wingate’s football varsity, with his talent as offensive lineman he was discovered by different universities and offers him the scholarship in exchange that he will play for their football team. Being a Mississippi graduates Miss Sue and the Tuohys shows their eagerness to make Big Mike join the Ole Miss Football team instead of the Tennessee’s league. Where Big Mike’s decision became clamor and leads to the investigation of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) attacking the choice of Big Mike’s will to decide on what school he really wants to join where they connected it with the possible influenced of the Tuohys who were alumni and devoted donors of the University of Mississippi. At the end despite of being confused and leaving the Tuohys for a while, Big Mike returns to the investigation panel of NCAA declaring that he really wanted to be part of the Ole Miss where his family (Tuohys) came from. In the end of the film is shows the real Michael Oher and the Tuohys during the 2009 NFL Draft where he became part of the Baltimore Ravens team.
We need a film like The Blind Side this time, a family movie that touches hearts and show the importance of family to each one of us. The character may not be similar on the way they look on real life, but the message is perfectly delivered. A movie that is filled with inspiration and teachings about life on how we see happiness and the real meaning of family which is not only based though blood but through acceptance.
