>Starting January 8, 2010, the Chipmunks are back with twice the fun and laughter making the film worth watching by the kids and kids at heart. 20th Century Fox launches Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (sequel) starring Zachary Levi (Toby Seville), David Cross (Ian Hawke), Wendie Malick (Dr. Rubin), and Jason Lee (Dave Seville) with voices of Justin Long (Alvin), Matthew Gray Gubler (Simon), Jesse McCartney (Theodore), Christina Applegate (Brittany), Anna Faris (Jeanette), and Amy Poehler (Elenor). Directed by Betty Thomas, screenplay by Jon Vitti and Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger and produced by Regency Enterprises and Bagdasarian Productions.
After the fame and success that the Chipmunks had, they had a benefit concert in Paris France but Alvin as always who enjoys the fame and fun, he jumps on top of a scaffolding and accidentally cuts a cord that connects to billboard that hits Dave and send him flying across the stage. Being hospitalized Dave ask her Aunt Jackie to take care of the Chipmunks but like what happen to Dave, Aunt Jackie fell on the stairs this time it’s because of Toby, Dave’s cousin. Dave has arranged an agreement with Dr. Rubin, the principal of the West Eastman school , to guide the Chipmunks as they enter school. Despite of their fame, like other kids they experience peer pressure and bullying, but Alvin who became part of the football varsity and became more self centered after the fame and glory he receive. Dr. Rubin who is a huge fan of The Chipmunks ask their help to save the school’s music group by joining to a singing competition. Ian Hawke who is the former manager of The Chipmunks discovered Britanny, Jannet and Elenor and forms the Chippettes sees the singing competition to compete with Alvin and his brothers. Alvin’s involvement to the varsity leads to the withdrawal of The Chipmuks in the competition, making the Chippettes the representative of the West Eastman school for the singing competition. But Ian Hawke remain in his greedy self commits to an event at the Staples Center and he locks up the Chippettes who wanted to go to the competition and refuses to Ian’s plan. The Chipmunks saves the Chippettes, and performs at the singing competition where Charice Pempenco became part of the said event. Now Dave’s family grew after adopting the Chippettes to the Seville family.
This movie should be shown last Christmas but due to Metro Manila Film Festival, the film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel was moved on January 8, 2010. Aside from the cute characters and the humor, kids and kids at heart will surely appreciate and learn from it. The importance of friendship and brotherhood that children needs to know and that shown in the movie, the confidence and reaching their dreams.
