>Afraid of big challenges? What about having the task of reshaping the world and in the process provide a better future for over a billion of the world’s poorest inhabitants? Since 2000 this work has been done under the umbrella of reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The MDGs, a set of eight agreed upon development goals, (1. End Extreme Poverty, 2. Provide Universal Primary Education, 3. Empower Women, 4. Reduce Child Mortality, 5. Improve Maternal Health, 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, 7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability, 8. Establish a Global Partnership) have until 2015 to be reached and while many of them are on track some of them in various countries are slow to progress and cause for concern.
Now is the time to increase the pressure on governments to double their efforts in attaining their 2000 MDG commitments by 2015.
With five years left the Millennium Campaign is starting an online community of MDG youth activists. The “iMDG” community is a community of youth ages 15 – 35 who are engaged and dedicated in reaching these goals.
Unveiled on Jan. 1 of this year the iMDG community web space (www.asiapacific.endpoverty2015.org/imdg) is looking for leading community members.
